Propecia (Finasteride) whether prescribed in the 1 mg. strength or the 5 mg. strength should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor takes a lot of different factors into consideration such as your age, weight, medical history and general state of health while prescribing this medication.
Propecia (Finasteride) is generally taken once a day at the same time, with or without food. It is very important that you keep to your regular schedule for maximum effectiveness. If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, please skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
You will need to use Propecia (Finasteride) for at least 3 months before you notice the effects of the medicine. If you stop using the medication, you will start losing the new hair growth within about 12 months.

However, men who are allergic to Finasteride, or any of the other ingredients in the tablet should not use Propecia (Finasteride).
